If you want to be totally mindfucked when watching something, watch one of David Lynch's movies.

    Suggestions
    Wild at Heart
    Blue Velvet
    Lost Highway
    Mulholland Drive
    Eraserhead
    Inland Empire

    Here's some sample screenshots:

Awesome movies. Not just for the sheer imagery and artistry that goes into their direction, but they're phenomenal stories - if you can understand them.

Hitchcock's movies don't hold a candle to the absurdity and the weird in Lynch's films.

Here's the general step-by-step reaction of someone watching "Inland Empire:"

    1. Hey, that's pretty cool
    2. ....what the fuck just happened?
    3. OH, I get it..interesting
    4. Sex, violence, and drugs
    5. Wait, WHY the fuck is there a rabbit standing outside of the window?
    6. ........................................................
    7. This music is pretty awesome.
    8. NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE
    9. Wait, shit...no it doesn't
    10. Repeat steps 1-9 for the last 20 minutes.

Twin Peaks, Lynch's TV show, is just as fucked up as that. Except it takes a while for it to reach the point of total insanity.

It starts out as a general murder mystery. Then you throw in doppelgangers, possession, abduction, occultism, a lady who talks to her pet log, a dancing, backwards-talking midget, a giant, and a man with one arm.

It's one of the most critically acclaimed cult shows ever produced.

"Twin Peaks was ranked on TV Guide magazine's 2002 "Top 25 cult shows" at No. 20, and one of the "Top 50 Television Programs of All Time" by the same guide at No. 45.[20] In 2007, Channel 4 (UK) ranked Twin Peaks #9 on their list of the "50 Greatest TV Dramas".[21] Also that year, Time included the show on their list of the "100 Best TV Shows of All-Time".

Sounds sorta like a soap... :/ all you need now is the midget getting the lady that talks to her log knocked up and no wait she has twins and one of them is the giant's. lol

Calling it a soap is an insult. <_< If anything it pokes fun at soap operas; there's actually a mock-soap specifically created for the purpose of this show, which is shown playing on various TVs throughout the series.

But, yeah. It's nothing of the sort. It's often considered the father of the "The X-Files," as they both feature very similar styles of direction and themes. People also call "Lost" a sort of spiritual successor to "Twin Peaks."
